PREORDER 'Magical Moony' Enamel Pin

Pin Details - in a KNUTshell 

• Each pin is 2" tall and 1.5" wide. 

• The pin is silver metal plated, hard enamel and double backed. The moon will have a pearlescent grey filling. 

• Each pin will come on an A7 backing card and special marauder's themed 'free bee' product! 

The Backstory

For years, I confess to having held a somewhat Narcissa-worthy snobbery towards fanfiction; in a KNUTshell, I was a canon purist and - in hindsight - am not proud of it. For this was the year that, after hearing repeated references to All the Young Dudes on social media, I fell down the AO3 Rabbit Hole and... to quote Taylor, everything  changed! Calling this 500,000 word epic a fanfic honestly feels wrong because, while I don't personally view every single element as canon, it was so beautifully, thoughtfully and richly created and - yes I'm going to say it - in many ways had more depth than the original HP Series. These  characters felt so raw and so real and, obviously, it also canonised WOLFSTAR.

When I finally finished the series, I filled the void with the equally wonderful ATYD - Sirius' POV; however, once the final line of this was read, I didn't know what to do with myself! Accordingly, I decided to channel my inner Ravenclaw creativity and create something that could live forever... a Wolfstar enamel pin! I eventually created three designs, which I turned into a kickstarter campaign; sadly, due to the sheer detail of the final pin, I set the funding goal high and didn't quite make it.

Nonetheless, this design was undoubtedly the most popular and I've received numerous messages since the campaign's end, asking if I may still consider releasing it. I've therefore decided to manufacture this one as a standalone pin and, all being well, can bring the other two to life at a later date! 

The Design Story

Onto the design details! One of the aspects of the Remus-Sirius relationship that I love the most is their connection through symbolism - which I also feel gives credence to it being canon, because HP is rife with etymological messaging. The two notable examples here are the canine and cosmic connections, with the Wolf - Dog and Moon - Star. Accordingly, this pin celebrates both, with the star arrangement in the moon being the Canis Major, ft. the Sirius star! In terms of the moon itself, I will also be using a pearlescent effect filling here, to ensure the silver stars truly shine!

Regarding ATYD, "you are magic" is a direct quote from the fic, and occurs in one of the most memorable scenes that indicates Sirius' true feelings. For me, this moment is so poignant because of Remus' chronic self-deprivation. Despite having such clear, natural flair for magic, he feels inherently unmagical because of his condition (as someone with their own chronic health condition - T1 Diabetes) this is something that resonated with me in the original HP series, but took on a whole new level with ATYD.

Seeing Sirius tell Remus that he is magic - not just has (acquired), but is (inherent) was one of those 'bottle it up for a rainy day' lines. Moreover, the fact that Remus says the same thing several chapter later is the most beautiful bit of symmetry. It also reminds you that, as much as Sirius is outwardly full of bravado, he had his own tramautic upbringing in a house where he was continually made to feel unworthy and - well - distinctly unmagical. He needed to hear it just as much. 

In a KNUTshell, whether you have read ATYD or not, I feel this quote resonates so much with two characters that we know and love from the original series and - beyond that - with any moment in our own lives when those words would mean so much. So this pin solemnly swears to be here to say it to you! 

Why should I preorder?

The following two magical reasons:

1) Save some sickles! All preorder pins will be slightly cheaper than the final ready-made pins I eventually list in my shop.

Note: They are still 'just a smidge' more expensive than Kickstarter, as I wanted to retain some premium for those who helped bring this dream to life! But will still be a sirius saving compared to later on). 

2) Early Access! They will be posted just after my Kickstarter backer rewards, but before I list the ready-made pins in my store. This means that, after backers, you will be one of the first to welcome them home! 

This pin has been approved by a trusted manufacturer (the same one used for my 'House Puff Pride' pins and will go into production mid-September.
