The Backstory
Ever since my Moonicorn joined the Puffcorn and Fwoopcorn to become a “golden trio” of unicorn beasties in Spring 2021, I’ve been wanting to grow my hybrid unicorn family even further!
What’s more, having also created my Nifflebee earlier this year, I knew that the hybrid niffler theme was a keeper - they just have so much personality and, to pparaphrase Agnes from despicable me, “are so fluffy I’m gonna cry!” In my head canon, a NiffleCorn is a little more timid than its confident cousin (the standard Niffler), but are equally excitable around shiny things. What’s more, I have this theory that their special unicorn pouch acts like a philosopher’s stone, turning any metal into gold!

The Design Story
As I said, from the moment that I brought my Moonicorn to life, I knew that a Nifflecorn HAD to be in the tea leaves. Alas…. Mind Muggles got the better of me. In a KNUTshell, I wasn’t quite sure how he would look. While I aDUMBLEdore the contrast of white and unicorn yarn on my Fwoopcorn, I felt that this could look a bit “too much” for a niffler…
… I’ll be honest, I DID try this out, and last week’s ‘prototype’ had Sir Nugget’s colourway, only with unicorn yarn instead of black, yet quickly realised this wasn’t a keeper! I decided to try making it more like my Moonicorn, which is mostly white with “hints” of the unicorn yarn. Accordingly, I used this yarn for her pouch and - thanks to the “inside out” technique I use for these - it blends in seamlessly with the white and is just a little dash of “magic.”
I also used the unicorn yarn on the tail, because who doesn’t love a #beastiebutt surprise? Finally, I
made one important change to my Niffler design, which I’ve wanted to do for a while and feel could be a “keeper” moving forward: bigger eyes!
Your Story
As with all other Spew Crew beasties, each moonicorn is handmade to my own pattern, so is 100% exclusive to Bumble and Be. As they are made-to-order, it means that no two will be quite the same, but I like to think that is part of their magic - just like an Ollivander wand!
Every single moonicorn adopted will also come with their own exclusive adoption card and "beastie book badge", which I make from the secondhand pages of Harry Potter books. Before your beastie flies off to you, I will ask if you have a name in mind and - if so - put this onto the adoption card. On that note, this name will often form the basis for the book badge too; for example, past customers have called Moonicorns Luna and Star, so I have chosen passages with these words included!
My makes are inspired by the Wizarding World, but are unlicensed and have no affiliation with Warner Bros/JK Rowling.
